Amnesia is a common theme in love stories. But who knew that it could happened in real life?
This is precisely the cause with 19-year-old Jessica Sharman, who was diagnosed with frontal lobe epilepsy in 2010.
While riding the train in March 3, Jessica suffered a seizure. 25-year-old Richard Bishop, his boyfriend, came to her rescue, but her memory was wiped out.
"I didn't know what was going on," Jessica recalled. "Momentary amnesia was normal for me after seizures. But an hour or so later I saw this woman running towards me I had no idea who she was.
"It was my mum, and I just stared at her blankly."
Her family even has to show her their family pictures just to convince her that she is part of their family.
Just imagine the awkwardness she felt when she was with her boyfriend, who became simply a stranger to her. She even thought of breaking up with him.
But Richard is passionate, and decided to court her all over again. Jessica said regarding Richard's efforts, "Seeing how passionate he was convinced me that he must care for me, so I agreed to date him, but made no promises."
After some time, Jessice fell in love with Richard again.
Wow, that is the stuff of fairy tales, isn't it?
Jessica said regarding the unlikely romance, "I feel so lucky that he knew me well enough to stand by me even when I thought of him as a stranger.
"He practically lives at my house now and our relationship is going from strength to strength."
