I was preparing to support the Bicolana from Masbate – Kisses – but now my heart breaks for Rita. PBB must be unequivocal against incipient discrimination, subsconscious racism and the bullying it engenders in any contour and complexion, only made grievous by its grand display to a national audience [especially] to its target segment – the youth whose moral judgment is just forming,”</em> Salceda wrote in his post.</p><br/><div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"><br/><br/></div><br/></div><br/><p>In disclosing his opinion on the matter, Salceda further noted : “<em>From the start, PBB should have been structured to prevent its occurrence. Treatment of indigenous peoples is too delicate for a ‘role playing-cum-confession room’ context. This could be the great Trojan horse of all time. This is a practice that has to stop.”</p><br/><p>Filipinos are naturally outraged by the comment, and in response, Albay 2nd District Representative Joey Salceda filed a resolution proposing to have the US presidential candidate banned from entering the country for being “inimical to the national interest”; describing his remarks as “largely unprompted and undeserved”, as per an article published by <a href="http://www.rappler.com/nation/142364-joey-salceda-house-resolution-ban-donald-trump-enter-philippines">Rappler</a>.</p><br/><div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"><br/><br/></div><br/></div><br/><p>“While Donald J. Trump, be permanently refused entry into the Philippines,” the House resolution stated.</p><br/><p>“There is no feasible basis or reasonable justification to the wholesale labeling of Filipinos as coming from a ‘terrorist state’ or that they will be a Trojan horse,” said Salceda.</p><br/><p>“Trump’s remarks have had widespread dissemination, thus aggravating the shame it has already put Filipinos and Filipino Muslims, including Filipino migrants and overseas Filipino workers who this House and our society have recognized as modern heroes of our country,” he added; stressing that Trump’s attitude may negatively affect the four million Filipinos in the US.</p><br/><p>Meanwhile, Joseph Franco, a Filipino political scientist at Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University, told <a href="http://time.com/4444403/philippines-donald-trump-ban-terrorist-joey-salceda/">Time:</a>  “It looks like a PR stunt to me. She shares our values of authentic humanism, shares our goals of countryside development and national competitiveness and certainly her compassion will ensure that the impacts will be shared by all,” Governor Salceda wrote in his official <a href="https://www.facebook.com/jose.salceda.92/posts/10154368334486756">Facebook </a>account.</p><br/><div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"><br/><br/></div><br/></div><br/><p style="text-align: justify;">Explaining his support for Poe, the governor said that more than expertise, the country needs a “heart in the right place” to effectively govern the citizenry.</p><br/><p style="text-align: justify;">“And what we have learned throughout the years of working on the ground is that expertise is needed but does not suffice. What one needs more to succeed is the heart – and the heart in the right place – to be able to truly help our fellow citizens,” he said.</p><br/><p style="text-align: justify;">Meanwhile, in a separate interview with the <a href="http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/780979/salceda-now-backs-escuderos-vp-bid">Inquirer</a>, Salceda also confirmed that he will be supporting Escudero as his VP bet.</p><br/><p style="text-align: justify;">The Albay governor’s support could be a potential boost for Escudero, who is running against candidates who all have roots or some affinity to the Bicol region.</p><br/><p style="text-align: justify;">Salceda, who is currently on his third and final term as governor of Albay, is now seeking a seat in Congress; representing the second district of the province.
