“Catwalk King” Sinon Loresca gives back to the less fortunate

<p>There’s only one week left and it’s already <strong>Christmas day</strong>! At this point in time, almost all celebrities are probably busy adorning their homes with their extravagant Christmas decorations or are already preparing for their <strong>Holiday </strong>vacation trips. While these may be the ideal ways to feel the Holiday season, some opt for less self-serving means to embod their holiday spirit.</p> <p>Such was the case for <strong>Sinon Loresca</strong>, or more popularly known as the “<strong>Catwalk King</strong>“. In a report from <strong>GMA News</strong>, the social media star proved that he’s just as fantastic on the inside as much as he is on the outside. For this year’s Christmas, he chose to give back to the less fortunate by giving them food and <em>aguinaldos</em>. According to his interview with <strong>GQ</strong>, the Catwalk King was disowned by her mother after learning about his sexuality. He left his home and what forced to settle in what he called a “garbage mountain” in <strong>Manila</strong>.</p> <p>Fast forward to ten years, what used to be an outcast is now the media sensation that is Sinon. (PSC), the corporation that owns and operates the 7-Eleven brand in the country, recently announced the launch of a pilot program where franchisees pay less than P1 million to operate a store.</p><br/><p>The P1 million price tag is far lower than the P3.5 million regular franchising fee.</p><br/><p>According to PSC president Jose Victor Paterno, they launched the program in order to attract more interested investors — especially the ones who work hard but don’t have the capital to start their own business.</p><br/><p>“In the Philippines, the people with money don’t want to work; the people who are willing to work, they don’t always have the money. We have the money. We want the people who are willing to work. We’ll attract people who are really passionate about operating stores and who are willing to be there everyday. Hancox told Reuters Health, as earlier published by <a href="http://interaksyon.com/article/130237/thumb-suckers-nail-biters-less-likely-to-develop-allergies---study">InterAksyon</a>.</p><br/><p>An analysis was done covering 1,000 individuals born between 1972 and 1973 and whose parents reported tendencies to have an oral habit in their early childhood.</p><br/><p>About 40 percent of girls and 50 percent of boys had developed an allergy by age 13. Of these, around 38 percent were children who had an oral habit earlier in life while a much larger 50 percent did not suck their thumb or bite their nails habitually.</p><br/><div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"><br/><br/></div><br/></div><br/><p>The study also found out that 60 percent of men and women had developed an allergy by the age of 32. A similar trend was also discovered between those who had an oral habit and those who did not.</p><br/><p>However, researchers pointed out that their study focused only on skin tests for allergies and not for asthma. In fact, they did not find any difference in risk for developing asthma or hay fever among the sample population.</p><br/><p>“We used skin tests to test for allergies. Although a lot of asthma is due to allergies, sometimes it is not, so maybe this is why we didn’t find the association,” Hancox explained.</p><br/><p>For now, the study does not give any definitive recommendation yet for parents who deal with their children’s thumbsucking and nailbiting.</p><br/><p>“I don’t think that we know enough to make a recommendation yet. Duterte posted a rating of 33%. It remained unchanged from the preceding SWS survey conducted on April 18 to 20. This means the issues thrown at him failed to dent his popularity among the voters. The survey was taken after Senator Antonio Trillanes IV accused the mayor of not having declared at least P211 million in bank deposits.</p><br/><p>Duterte’s closest contender, Senator Grace Poe, placed second with a score of 22%, a two-point drop from the preceding survey.</p><br/><div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"><br/><br/></div><br/></div><br/><p>Liberal Party bet and President Benigno Aquino’s preferred successor Mar Roxas placed third with 20%.</p><br/><p>Vice President Jejomar Binay came in fourth place with 13%. The vice president was a front runner during the early stage of the presidential race, but his popularity has eroded over allegations of graft and corruption.</p><br/><p>Senator Miriam Santiago is fifth with a rating of 2%.</p><br/><p>Four percent of the survey respondents were undecided. The survey has a margin of error of +/-1%.</p><br/><p>Political analyst Ramon Casiple said: “The vote for Duterte is a protest vote, not really a Duterte vote.”</p><br/><p>“People are showing that they are really frustrated and angry with the current administration. <ul><li style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Less than 50 percent of American teenagers identify as  straight, according to a new report</strong></li><br/><li style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Today’s 13 to 20 year-olds comprise a new “Generation Z” that are different from “millennials”</strong></li><br/><li style="text-align: justify;"><strong>They are found to be more open-minded about gender compared to older generations</strong></li><br/></ul><p style="text-align: justify;">A new study published in the United States revealed that less than half of teenagers, who comprise the so-called emerging “Generation Z”, identify as straight; thereby indicating that they are more open-minded and permissive of the various gender and sexuality compared to other generations, including the older “millennials.”</p><br/><p style="text-align: justify;">The survey by the <a href="https://broadly.vice.com/en_us/article/teens-these-days-are-queer-af-new-study-says">J. Walter Thompson Innovation Group</a>, which specializes in forecasting trends and consumer insight, showed that only 48 percent of young Americans aged 13 to 20 years old consider themselves as exclusively heterosexual. They were once considered as “younger millennials” but have since been tentatively called “Gen Z” in marketing circles; indicating a new generation set altogether.</p><br/><p style="text-align: justify;">In contrast, about 65 percent of the more popularly documented “older millennials” aged 21 to 34 years old consider themselves as completely straight.</p><br/><p style="text-align: justify;">The study provided some insightful results. For one, when asked to identify themselves on a scale that ranged from “completely homosexual” to “completely heterosexual,” more than one-third of the Gen Z’s indicated that they were bisexual to a certain degree compared to only 24 percent of the older millennials.</p><br/><p style="text-align: justify;">In addition, almost 6 in every 10 Gen Z’s knew someone who preferred to use gender-neutral pronouns such as “they,” “them,” or “ze.” On the other hand, only 43 percent of 28 to 34 year-olds reported the same.</p><br/><p style="text-align: justify;">The younger generation was also found to be more open to breaking gender norms, with more of this particular demographic buying clothes that may not necessarily have been designed for their own gender. In addition, an overwhelming majority of Generation Z supported the idea of gender-neutral bathrooms in public spaces.</p><br/><p style="text-align: justify;">Around 81 percent of the teenagers surveyed said that gender shouldn’t define an individual while only 28 percent of older millennials said the same.</p><br/><p style="text-align: justify;">The groundbreaking report opens the door to possible future studies on the newest generation that is coming of age; in a world where everyone is more interconnected with a better understanding on gender identity and sexuality.</p><br/><p style="text-align: justify;">“That was an intriguing statistic that got a lot of attention in the media, but we weren’t sure quite what it meant: Were they just saying, for example, that men or women could pursue any career they wanted to? Or did this reflect the more radical idea that gender itself isn’t as important to personal identity as it used to be, or that gender shouldn’t be seen as a binary? This new research shows that the latter idea is gaining significant traction among Gen Zers,” explained  J.
