They are even planning to increase their investments in various industries.</div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;">In a statement that was released by the <b>Department of Finance, Secretary Carlos Dominguez III</b> recently met with ambassadors from the <b>United Kingdom</b>, <b>France</b>, <b>Germany</b>, <b>Italy</b>, <b>Spain</b>, <b>Belgium</b>, <b>Czech</b> <b>Republic</b>, <b>Greece</b>, <b>Austria</b>, the <b>Netherlands</b>, <b>Romania</b>, <b>Denmark</b>, <b>Hungary</b>, and <b>Sweden </b>to discuss the administration’s <b>10-point agenda</b> and to explore other business opportunities.</div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;">The delegation that was headed by <b>EU Ambassador Franz Jessen</b> revealed their intentions to pursue additional investments, particularly in civil security, energy and infrastructure.</div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;">“The ambassadors were one in saying that they are looking forward to further strengthening the EU’s bilateral relations with the Philippines, especially in the field of trade and economic cooperation,” the DOF said.</div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;">The <b>Swedish Ambassador Harald Fries</b> also revealed that a business delegation from Sweden is scheduled to arrive in Manila to explore projects in energy, infrastructure, <b>business processing outsourcing (BPO)</b>, and civil security.</div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;">Present in the meetings were</div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;">-Amb. This was confirmed by <b>Finance secretary Carlos</b> <b>Dominguez </b>who shared the gist of his talk with <b>Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Tanhaei</b>. According to him, Tanhei wants to import more petroleum products from the <b>Philippines</b> as well as bananas. </div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;">“The Iranian government…has expressed interest in working with the <b>Philippines</b>’ energy sector in the fields of oil exploration and the petroleum product trade,”Dominguez shared. </div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;">The relationship between the two countries is expected to be reinforced after the lifting of the economic sanctions. Tanhei stated, “In the [Iranian] private sector…for example regarding bananas, there are some big companies that said we still need more bananas from the Philippines,”</div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;">Tanhei further added that some of their big companies are interested in investing in the Philippines, specifically in the infrastuctures, power transmission and water purification. </div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><br/><div style="text-align: justify;">Meanwhile, <b>deputy minister </b>of <b>Iran’s Finance Ministry </b>is expected to visit PHL this coming November.
