Allegedly, the victim named Mark Joseph Lotok may be a victim of identity theft, an article written by Trisha Macas which was published on <a href="http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/556952/news/metro/public-school-teacher-in-debt-because-of-identity-theft">GMA News Online</a> stated. Lontok, however, remembers posting a photo of his Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) ID online. “Iyong time na nakapasa ako sa LET (Licensure Examination for Teachers), nag-post po agad ako. Tsaka pagpasok ko po sa public (school), pagbigay ng papel ko, pinost din po sa FB (Facebook) sa sobrang tuwa ko po,” he was quoted saying. [“During the time I passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers, I posted the results immediately. When I entered the public school and got my papers, I also posted it on FB out of extreme joy.”] Every month, the victim is  obliged to pay over P9,000 which is automatically deducted from his payroll account. This reportedly surprised him because he did not sign any document authorizing the bank to deduct the amount. Being the sole breadwinner of the family, the public school teacher said the situation affected him badly; considering his small earnings. Aside from the deductions, another bank is set to collect P10,000 from his account. Meanwhile, one of the banks have already submitted photos of the alleged man who applied for the loan using Lontok’s identity. With this incident, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) reminds the public to be discerning in posting personal information online. NBI Anti-Fraud and Action Division executive officer Atty. Dennis Syhian warned people to protect their privacy and be more cautious on what they post online to avoid being robbed of identity.
