Abante Tonite claimed that Samantha Lopez did this so she would have something to give her child on Christmas. The young mother entered the mall and quickly went into the department store. She was then brought to the security office for trying to steal merchandise that added up to PHP 1,649. Samantha begged the security officers to set her free so she could spend the holidays with her young kid, who is reported to be four years old. But the officers were steadfast in their decision to keep her locked up in the station. In an article written by Rie Takumi for <a href="http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/574793/news/nation/nbp-chaplain-no-visitations-allowed-in-maximum-security-compound">GMA News Online</a> on July 23, 2016, it was disclosed that NBP Chaplain Msgr. Roberto Olaguer shared how strict the penitentiary’s management is in implementing a more serious version of Oplan Galugad. “Mula pa noong huwebes, wala nang nakakapasok na dalaw [Since last Thursday, no visitors were allowed to enter],” Olaguer said; adding that the relatives of the inmates have already begun organizing themselves to lodge a complaint since even food and medicine packages from outside sources were disallowed in the area. <div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"> </div> </div> The chaplain further mentioned that even the prison guards assigned at the Maximum Security Compound were also disarmed of their service firearms, and their two-way radios recalled, while several officers were sent to Camp Vicente Lim in Canlubang, Laguna for retraining. “Hindi ko nga alam kung anong nangyayari. [I do not know what is happening],” Olaguer said; noting that he received reports of inmates being abused inside the compound but he has no way of validating such information. “Kagabi nga, merong bumati ata na isang bilanggo sa SAF na ‘Good evening, sir,’ binigwasan daw agad eh. Stephen Messenger mentioned in his article for <a href="https://www.thedodo.com/shark-dies-lifeguard-selfies-1865228097.html">The Dodo</a> published on June 17 that a video recorded in a mobile shows seven men cautiously approaching the shark before they dragged the animal back to shore. As the men approached the shore while pulling the shark, the animal tried hard to escape from the hands of its captors, but it was all going in vain. The animal seemed to be tangled in the rope of a life preserver, the reason it was unable to swim freely. In one part of the video, the life preserver was even inserted in the mouth of the shark, as the seemingly tired animal lies helplessly on sands surrounded by lifeguards and tourists. One man can be seen holding the dying creature’s tail fin in the air as he posed for a photo. Reports said the incident happened in a beach area near the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Punta Cana, where in fact, some members of the hotel’s staff were involved. <div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"> </div> </div> An article by Valerie Edwards for <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3647579/Shark-dies-group-tourists-drag-water-photos.html">Mail Online</a> said that Hard Rock Hotel is aware of the incident and the management is not happy with it, as Stacy Sorino, the hotel’s spokesman said that “corrective measures” are being taken against the employees involved “That is absolutely against our standards of protecting animals as we protect our guests,” said Sorino. Hard Rock also showed a similar reaction to the incident on Twitter, as they posted a tweet saying, “As Hard Rock does not condone this behavior, we are taking this situation seriously. Philippine media has reported the incident last week after a Filipino fisherman claimed they were accosted by Chinese Coast Guard while fishing on the disputed island and were told to leave last March 5 and 6. FB Bubhoy’s captain Junmar Pumicpic said the Chinese vessels rammed their boats and drove them away by shining lasers and powerful lights on their boat. The Chinese patrol boats even threw empty bottles at the Filipinos, prompting the fishermen to retaliate with rocks. But Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said the fishermen were operating in a Chinese territory and had been fishing in the vicinity of the shoal illegally. “Chinese official ships advised the illegally stationed Philippine trawlers to leave, in accordance with the law, but they refused to obey,” Hua said in a daily press briefing on Tuesday, March 22. The Chinese official also accused the fishermen of ‘provoking’ the coast guards and threatening them with weapons. “Certain people on the ships even waved around machetes and flung fire bombs, carrying out deliberate provocation, attacking the Chinese law enforcers and official boat, confronting China’s law enforcement and seriously threatening the safety and order of the waters around Huangyan Island,” Hua explained.
