<p>Following the accusations of a former housemaid against her, actress Claudine Barretto has recently generated buzz online – for a different reason altogether. Just recently, she reportedly saved a gunshot victim’s life.</p> <p>Based on an ABS-CBN report, Claudine Barretto encountered the gunshot victim — Abelardo Espela — in an undisclosed hospital in Marikina. After seeing her vehicle, he pleaded with her to assist him. Luckily for him, the actress agreed to take him in even though he was covered in blood. Thus, Abelardo was brought aboard the actress’ vehicle and taken to another hospital.</p> <p>It is, however, unfortunate that Abelardo’s companion did not survive the unwelcome incident. She complained that her former employer treated her badly and even underpaid her. Josefa said that she received payment for 16 days’ worth of labor when she in fact worked for 17 days.</p> <p>Josefa also demanded additional compensation for accompanying Claudine Barretto to the hospital for an operation. <p>Most children spend their childhood playing with toys, running around and playing outside the house. Unfortunately the story is different in the case of Wangzhen from Nanyang, Henan, China. Wangzhen is not your typical 12-year-old who had a carefree childhood many kids are lucky to experience.</p> <p> </p> <p><img alt="" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2173" height="311" src="https://showbizinsider.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/18/b5.jpg" width="595"/></p> <p>He was abandoned by his mother when he was just a meek two-year-old little boy. Left by his own mother, he suffered a nightmarish life together with his father who had problems on his own. What made their condition more burdensome was when Wangman, Wangzhen’s father, accidentally cut his right hand while working as a construction worker.</p> <p>It may be hard work and the earnings do not completely compensate for their daily needs, but the father persisted for the welfare of the family. It got easier once he met a new lover who had turned their lives for the better, Liam Yingchun. Liam Yingchun stood to be Wangzhen’s mother who treated him as if he was her own child.</p> <p><img alt="" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2169" height="340" src="https://showbizinsider.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/18/b1.jpg" width="598"/></p> <p>Just as when their lives are finally getting better, Liam Yingchun was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Because of her severe condition, she had to be admitted to the hospital. This is where she received Wangzhen’s care. The child would tend to his ill stepmother’s needs.</p> <p>The adversities still harassed the poor family. According to GoodTimes, Wangzhen was involved in a perilous car accident when he was at the road side, just right in front of their house. The accident nearly took his right leg. Luckily, Wangzhen was able to survive and look after his stepmother.</p> <p>The doctors said that if the disease was left untreated, Liam’s condition would worsen and she could perish.</p> <p><img alt="" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2170" height="313" src="https://showbizinsider.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/18/b2.jpg" width="597"/></p> <p>To help his father with the hospital bills, Wangzhen stood up to help him. He worked day and night, rummaging the trash bins for some recyclable and valuable junks worth selling.</p> <p>After working, the 12-year-old kid would go back to the hospital to tend to his stepmother’s needs. He would wipe the sweat from her brow and would feed her.</p> <p>The hardworking child shared that he won’t accept losing his stepmother. <p>The year-end classes for college students equate to a hell week. The exams are due, projects are being submitted, and theses are being defended. The immense workload is enough to make anyone crack under pressure, but not this woman. Despite undergoing labor in the hospital, this pregnant woman managed to take her final exams! Talk about dedication.</p> <p><strong>Nayzia Thomas</strong> is a college sophomore at <strong>Johnson County Community College</strong>. While in the middle of giving birth to her first child with Daivon Johnson, right when her year-end exams were due. In relation to this, a project called <em>Ward+Robes </em>was launched by Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada; turning the boring hospital clothes into something cool.</p><br/><p>“Teens are unique. Why should their hospital gowns be any different? That’s why Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada started the Ward + Robes initiative: a partnership with top designers to create unique hospital gowns teens actually want to wear,” the foundation stated.</p><br/><p>In the project, a number of fashion designers teamed up with the nonprofit organization to redesign hospital gowns in order to give sick kids “a chance to be themselves.”</p><br/><div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"><br/><br/></div><br/></div><br/><p>“Wearing a hospital gown is like being in a hospital,” said a patient.</p><br/><p>“There’s nothing good about it. Much to her surprise, it went viral.</p><br/><p><em>“This is a picture of a hard working man dedicated to his family!”</em> goes her caption on the <a href="https://web.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10157073587485640&set=a.10150284762690640.553728.593795639&type=1&theater">photo;</a> pertaining to Andre who works at a manufacturing company. Apparently, her husband had worked all night which made him unable to be with his son when the boy was rushed to the hospital as written in a <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/07/living/dad-under-bed-photo-viral-trnd/index.html">CNN</a> story.</p><br/><div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"><br/><br/></div><br/></div><br/><p><em>“After working all night third shift,”</em> the Facebook post further shared, <em>“he’s right here with his son who is in the hospital. He’s so tired but he’s here!! Father of the year award goes to Andre Palmer!!! I love you more than words baby.”</em></p><br/><p>Though Amy was pretty shocked after the photo went viral, she said to <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/07/living/dad-under-bed-photo-viral-trnd/index.html">CNN</a> that the observed gesture of her husband in the photo is typical of him.</p><br/><p>Meanwhile, netizens cheerfully commented on the viral photo.</p><br/><p>One Facebook user said, <em>“wow!! this is a REAL FATHER!!! Fully charged, it can work for up to 20 hours on its own.</p><br/><p>“The robot itself is 1.20 meters high, so it is not like Arnold Schwarzenegger with a leather jacket and an ‘I will be back’ robot,” said Zora Bots co-chief executive Fabrice Goffin. “It is a quite nice robot and the reactions are positive for the moment.”</p><br/><div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"><br/><br/></div><br/></div><br/><p>During its first week, Pepper was assigned to work at the hospital’s maternity department.</p><br/><p>“It is another way of making contact and maybe it is reassuring that it is a robot for some people,” said Bieke Vandeputte, one of the patients at the maternity ward. “The baby was really sure. He did not mind putting his hands on it. It did not frighten him so I think it will be important. Especially for children.”</p><br/><p>This is not the first time the Pepper robot held a job. As per an article published by <a href="http://www.pcmag.com/news/345245/pepper-robot-lands-a-hospital-job">PC Magazine</a>, the robot has previously worked at Nissan, various financial institutions, and a cell phone store in Tokyo.</p><br/><p>Unveiled in June 2014, Pepper comes with a 10.1-inch touch display to monitor emotions via changing colors and movements, as well as voice-recognition technology — enabling human-to-humanoid communication. The woman was later taken to the hospital with the shark still attached to her arm.</p><br/><p>A crew of Boca Raton Fire Rescue Services responded to the incident at Boca Raton Beach to find the 23-year-old woman, identified as Shaylen Borkowski, with a 2-ft. long nurse shark attached on her right forearm, as per an article published by <a href="http://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/Woman-Bitten-by-Nurse-Shark-at-Boca-Raton-Beach-379583821.html">NBC Miami</a>.</p><br/><p>Nurse sharks are common in Florida but are known to be very docile, said shark expert Jim Abernethy in an interview with <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4qGo7zu05Y">WPTV</a>.</p><br/><p>“The shark wouldn’t give up” said Boca Raton resident Shlomo Jacob who was at the beach at the time of the incident. “It was barely breathing but it wasn’t letting go of her arm, like it was stuck to her or something.”</p><br/><div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"><br/><br/></div><br/></div><br/><p>The small nurse shark was “antagonized” by beach-goers upon seeing it was still biting on Borkowski’s right arm, according to some witnesses; one of the bystanders may have killed the small shark even before the paramedics have arrived.</p><br/><p>11-year-old Nate Pachter was snorkeling in the area, he told the <a href="http://www.sun-sentinel.com/local/palm-beach/fl-boca-shark-bite-20160515-story.html">South Florida Sun-Sentinel</a>, when he witnessed a group of people in the water “holding the shark by its tail. He said he used his Facebook page alone in gathering cases.</p><br/><p style="text-align: justify;">According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), microcephaly, a lifetime defect, has been linked to seizures, intellectual disability, problems with movement and balance, hearing loss, vision problems, feeding problems such as difficulty swallowing, and developmental delay such as problems with speech or other developmental milestones like sitting, standing, and walking.</p><br/><p style="text-align: justify;">Those born with severe cases either need lifelong care or die. Babies born with mild microcephaly, however, may have an improved quality of life through speech and occupational therapy.</p><br/><p style="text-align: justify;">“Let me be clear that microcephaly in babies has several causes such as severe malnutrition, exposure to drugs or alcohol, and various infections during pregnancy including the Zika virus. Hence, a rise in microcephaly does not necessarily point to the Zika virus. His family tried to raise the money but was hardened up especially that his wife suffers from epilepsy.
