Three years, sibat ako (I will go). Four years, ay salamat (thanks),” Duterte said.</p><br/><p>Nestor Corrales mentioned in his article for <a href="http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/800481/duterte-willing-to-resign-if-govt-shifts-to-federalism">Inquirer</a> that the Philippine president made the remarks in his speech during an event with the League of Cities and Provinces at Malacañang on Wednesday night.</p><br/><p>Duterte mentioned that it will be best for the Philippines to copy the French government setup where there’s a president and a prime minister.</p><br/><p>“My advice is copy, copy the French setup. We have to because ang Filipino gusto talaga niya mag-boto ng Presidente ‘yan (Filipinos want to vote for their President). Hindi mo kunin sa kanila ‘yan eh (Don’t get that from them),” he said.</p><br/><div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"><br/><br/></div><br/></div><br/><p>The President said he is willing to offer his resignation as soon as the shift to a federal government is ready.</p><br/><p>“If they can shorten the proceedings, you have a Constitution that’s federal in three or two years, then you have to elect a president. Of course that would automatically, legally mean hindi na ako pwede (I’m not allowed), so I will offer to resign,” he said.</p><br/><p>During the campaign period, Duterte has been very vocal on supporting federalism over the present form of government; saying the system would empower local governments and pave the way for prosperity in the regions.</p><br/><p>In a <a href="http://www.rappler.com/nation/141193-duterte-resign-philippines-federalism">Rappler</a> story by Pia Ranada, it was mentioned that Duterte once again noted during his first State of the Nation Address on July 25 that he is willing to resign if a federal form of government would be adapted.</p><br/><p>Duterte also reiterated the same statement that he would no longer run for President if the system would push through.</p><br/><p>“Ako, nagtratrabaho ako (Me, I’m working). Do not feel short-changed. Sardillo…To grant the request for extension would not only be unfair to other candidates and parties who complied within the prescribed period but also would be a reversal of the Commission’s own resolution on the matter,” Lim wrote in a memorandum explaining his decision.</p><br/><p>However, they were outnumbered by Commissioners Rowena Guanzon, Arthur Lim, Sheriff Abas, and Al Parreño.</p><br/><p>According to election laws, winning candidates may not enter their office unless they submit their SOCEs.</p><br/><p>Explaining the ruling, COMELEC spokesperson James Jimenez said that the decision is backed by legal precedents, and would be beneficial not just to the LP but to other parties and candidates as well.</p><br/><p>“The extension will have a huge effect. The extension will benefit everyone. Not just one party in particular. Bongbong Marcos in the hotly-contested vice presidential race, Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo outrightly dismissed rumors of her immediate resignation or a supposed Liberal Party (LP) plot to oust incoming president Rodrigo Duterte.</p><br/><p>“<em>Wala pa akong sinabing ganyan kailanman </em>[I never said anything like that],” <a href="http://cnnphilippines.com/news/2016/05/10/leni-robredo-denies-impeachment-plans-plan-b-rodrigo-duterte.html">CNN Philippines</a> quoted her as saying; in reference to her alleged plan to immediately step down as vice president should she win. “<em>Sa katotohanan</em>, <em>may ginawang fake na</em> Facebook page <em>na ganito po ang sinasabi, na umano’y ako nagsabi, nireklamo na po natin ito</em>. In fact, <em>naipatanggal na natin ‘yung fake na</em> Facebook page [In truth, there was a fake Facebook page that was attributing it, that I was the one who said it, we already complained about it. In fact, we’ve had that fake Facebook page taken down.]”</p><br/><p>The <a href="https://adobochronicles.com/2016/05/01/robredo-if-elected-vice-president-of-duterte-i-will-immediately-resign-my-post/">original article</a> about her ‘supposed plan’ to resign can still be found in the satirical site <em>The Adobo Chronicles</em> though.</p><br/><div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"><br/><br/></div><br/></div><br/><p>Robredo then nixed the existence of ‘Plan B’ which is being peddled around as an LP plot to impeach Duterte so she could take over.</p><br/><p>“<em>Wala po itong katotohanan</em> [There is no truth to this],” she said, and pointed to her running mate Mar Roxas’ exhortation to support Duterte during his own press conference.</p><br/><p>“<em>Si </em>Secretary Mar <em>mismo ang nagsabi na malinaw si</em> Mayor Duterte<em> ang magiging susunod na pangulo ng Pilipinas. Hinihikayat niya tayo na ibigay ang suporta sa kanya</em>, [It was Secretary Mar himself who said that Duterte is clearly going to become the next president of the Philippines. He has urged us to give our support to him],” she said.</p><br/><p>The widow of the late Jesse Robredo also iterated her willingness to fully support Duterte and said the Filipinos deserve a unified tandem.</p><br/><p>“I’ve always repeatedly said in the past that the amount of support that I was willing to give Secretary Mar would be the same kind and the same amount of support that I should give whoever wins the presidency,” she said. “He deserves my 100-percent support and this is good for the country.
