Canedo mentioned in her article for <a href="http://www.sunstar.com.ph/davao/local-news/2016/05/15/wife-davao-city-vice-mayor-sue-accusers-473756"><em>Sun Star</em></a> published on May 15 that January Duterte, who is also the president of Association of Barangay Captains (ABC), is set to file charges against a certain Mr. Perfecto Tagalog after he accused the Dutertes of smuggling issues.</p><br/><p>During a press conference held at the Catalunan Grande Barangay Hall on Sunday, January said they might have remained quiet on the issue, however, the family is silently hurting and suffering because of the accusations.</p><br/><p><em>“We have remained silent for we knew that those who were meant to discredit our family given that my father-in-law, Mayor Rody Duterte, led the presidential surveys at that time. But we as a family, we were hurting and suffering in silence because of the accusations,”</em> January read her prepared statement.</p><br/><div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"><br/><br/></div><br/></div><br/><p>She said she was surprised over being accused of smuggling by a certain Mr. Perfecto Tagalog.</p><br/><p><em>“Mr. Perfecto Tagalog accused me of being a smuggler of</em> <em>ukay-ukay or used clothings and other articles. I was shocked as I was never into any business involving sales or any importation of goods whatsoever. This accusation spread like fire in our community that my daughter and my husband were in anguish and in distress upon knowing it,”</em> January added.</p><br/><p>January said now that election is over, the family has decided to take an action against Mr. Tagalog and everyone who worked in conspiracy with him.</p><br/><p><em>“In recent days, we have been constantly working with our lawyers to prepare cases which we may possibly file against him and his co-conspirators. I will seek justice for my family,”</em> January said further.</p><br/><p>An article by Karlos Manlupig for <a href="http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/785698/duterte-daughter-in-law-to-sue-man-over-smuggling-allegations"><em>Inquirer</em></a> said that January also used the opportunity to extend their gratitude to their family, friends and the community for the unwavering support and love that they have given during the ordeal.</p><br/><p>The daughter-in-law also thanked the entire country for supporting Mayor Duterte.</p><br/><p><em>“Finally, Pulong and I wish to thank the country for supporting Mayor Duterte, in his desire to lead us in the next six years. With 93% of votes already tallied, Robredo is currently leading the vice presidential polls, but only by a hairline.</p><br/><p>As the vice presidential race tightens, Robredo asked close rival, Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., and his camp to stop “unfair” allegations of cheating, as cited in an article published by <a href="http://www.rappler.com/nation/politics/elections/2016/132599-robredo-marcos-cheating-allegations-unfair-final-count?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=referral">Rappler</a> on May 10, 2016.</p><br/><p>“Ngayon po hindi pa tapos ang bilangan. ‘Di po tayo nagsasabi na tayo ay panalo na, hindi po tayo magsasabi na nandadaya ang iba, hindi po tayo magsasabi na talo na… pero ‘yung hinihingi lang po natin, sana po huminahon tayo. And whatever the result is, let us respect it.]</p><br/><p>As mentioned in an article by <a href="http://news.abs-cbn.com/halalan2016/nation/05/10/16/robredo-belies-cheating-claims-impeach-duterte-plot">ABS-CBN News</a>, Robredo reportedly said it is unfair to throw such accusations and she also stressed that her camp never accused Marcos of cheating the whole time he was leading the pre-election surveys.</p><br/><p>“Kasi I think napaka-unfair na accusation na sinasabing nandadaya nang hindi mo naman sinu-substantiate. Kasi ang dali lang sabihin eh, ang dali lang sabihin na nandadaya,” Robredo said.</p><br/><p>[I think it’s a very unfair accusation to insinuate that we’re cheating without substantiating it. Because it’s so easy to say, so easy to say there’s cheating.]</p><br/><p>Robredo insisted that there is no truth in the ‘supposed’ plan of the administrative party to impeach Duterte and to turn over the power to her should she win the race. He claimed Mayor Duterte and his daughter Sara amassed P2.4 billion between 2006 and 2015 in 17 different bank accounts.</p><br/><p>The senator challenged the mayor to disprove his accusations. He said he will resign as a senator if Duterte is able to prove him wrong.</p><br/><p>“Maganda ang aking pakiramdam, regardless kung ano ang resulta ng election, patuloy ang ating pagsisilbi (I feel good. I will continue to serve regardless of the results of the election),” Trillanes said after casting his vote at the Holy Infant Montessori Center at around 9 a.m. on May 9.</p><br/><div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"><br/><br/></div><br/></div><br/><p>He said he will go after Mayor Duterte whatever the outcome of the elections.</p><br/><p>“Regardless of the results of the elections, magkikita kami at hahabulin ko talaga siya. I will deal with him after the election, hindi ko siya uurungan,” Trillanes was quoted by <a href="http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/784163/trillanes-vows-to-go-after-duterte-win-or-lose">Inquirer</a> as saying.</p><br/><p>[Regardless of the results of the elections, we’ll see each other again as I will continue to go after him. Antonio Trillanes alleges Duterte kept hidden wealth in different bank accounts </strong></li><br/></ul><p>Presidential candidate and Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago called on her fellow presidential bet Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to come clean about the allegations of hidden wealth thrown against him.</p><br/><p>The lady senator said she was “surprised” by the revelations made by vice presidential candidate and Senator Antonio Trillanes IV pertaining to money hidden in different accounts under the name of Duterte and close family members.</p><br/><p>“I’m very surprised because I know him personally and we’ve always been good friends. He lives in humble homes. He does not live ostentatiously. He does not consume with profligacy. So I thought he was a prim and proper public official. If he is hard talking, never mind, we can suffer that. It’s shocking,” Santiago told <a href="http://www.philstar.com/headlines/2016/05/01/1578706/leader-does-not-flip-flop-grace">PhilStar</a>.</p><br/><div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"><br/><br/></div><br/></div><br/><p>Santiago called Duterte’s response to the allegations “vague” while noting that he had not given specific details, and had many inconsistencies in his statements.</p><br/><p>“He was at the head of the pack, then all of a sudden, he falls because his answers on the bank deposits are very vague. They do not make any sense. You have to have details to be credible, especially if you’re defending yourself,”  she said.</p><br/><p>With regard to the credibility of Trillanes’ claims, she says that the VP bet most likely received his information from the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) and thus did not question the claims he made.</p><br/><p>“Trillanes is an ally of the administration.
