I was shocked to see that there was a dog drowning but no one was actually helping,” he said.</p><br/><p>At that moment, Singh decided to use his turban—called a <em>dastaar</em>—to rope in the dog and tow it to safety. He said while people were initially shocked by him using the turban as Sikhs regard it to be a holy garment, he didn’t mind as he was more set on saving the poor animal’s life.</p><br/><div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"><br/><br/></div><br/></div><br/><p>“The moment I started taking off my turban, people watching around were shocked. They thought I was disrespecting my faith,” he said. “What was important at that point was to save the animal’s life.”</p><br/><p>Singh added the dog was in good health after it was rescued.</p><br/><p>The <em>dastaar</em> is highly regarded in Sikhism and has been described to have immensely spiritual and temporal signifance among adherents of the faith.</p><br/><p>Nevertheless, many praised Singh for willingness to set aside his beliefs so he could perform a good deed.</p><br/><p>“I am sure no leader of the Sikh faith would decry what this noble soul Sarwan has done,” said one admirer.</p><br/><p>Watch video:</p><br/><p><iframe width="620" height="465" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/XkBaQA9pNTg?feature=oembed" frame allowfullscreen="">[embedded content]</iframe></p><br/><aside class="mashsb-container mashsb-main"></aside> <center> </center><br/><p><strong><a href="https://blockads.fivefilters.org">Let’s block ads!</a></strong> <a href="https://github.com/fivefilters/block-ads/wiki/There-are-no-acceptable-ads">(Why?)</a></p><br/><p><a href="http://kickerdaily.com/posts/2016/06/kind-hearted-sikh-man-sets-religious-beliefs-aside-rescues-drowning-dog/" rel="nofollow">Kicker Daily News</a></p><br/><div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-bottom" style="display:block;text-align:center;"><ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-3942681860132668" data-ad-slot="4831328630" data-ad-format="auto"></ins><br/></div><br/></div>
