According to an article published by <a href="http://www.shanghaidaily.com/national/Teen-mom-leaves-new-baby-girl-in-bushes/shdaily.shtml">Shanghai Daily</a>, as disclosed by Hangzhou Daily, the teen went into labor while filming a match at National Under-18 Volleyball Tournament Championship in Changxing city on Wednesday, March 23. The report said she gave birth alone in a gymnasium toilet before placing the baby in the bushes next to Changxing Sports Center, where the tournament was being held “out of fear”. The newborn was discovered by a resident surnamed Ma, who followed a trail of blood on the ground to find the mother. <a href="http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/975883.shtml">Global Times </a>quoted him as saying: “I noticed a trail of blood on the ground. I then followed another trail to the stadium and saw one of the volleyball players with blood on her shoes.” He added that the teen was playing like nothing had happened. Another passerby surnamed Wang said: “She looked fine after giving birth. I assumed that she must have a strong body to give birth to a baby during the match.” Local doctors were called to the scene and the mother and her baby were rushed to a hospital for treatment. It is unclear whether the teen told anyone about her pregnancy prior to their game. Chinese ‘unwanted’ babies are sometimes abandoned because of social and financial pressures. In May last year, a newborn baby boy who was born with a cleft lip, was buried alive by his parents  in a remote countryside in the southern province of Guangxi, because they thought he was dead. According to an article published by <a href="http://shanghaiist.com/2015/05/13/abandoned-baby-found-alive-buried-wilderness-8-days.php">Shanghaiist</a>, the newborn was miraculously rescued eight days later; after a middle-aged woman heard him crying while she was collecting medicinal herbs. The woman thought the cemetery was haunted so she ran to a Buddhist temple for help. A volunteer at the temple asked the help of a priest and they returned to the cemetery where the woman heard the cries. The 75-year-old priest realized that the sounds are in fact coming from a baby.
