The first was the Philippines appeal to President Joko Widodo on May 5, 2015, and spared for the second time because of the observance of Ramadan in June this year,” said the DFA.</p><br/><p>Veloso was convicted of drug trafficking in Indonesia after she was arrested for smuggling 2.6 kilograms (5.7 lb) of heroin at the airport in April 2010. She was sentenced to death in October of that year but was spared due to a moratorium on capital punishment enacted by then Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.</p><br/><div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"><br/><br/></div><br/></div><br/><p>Five years later, she was scheduled to die by firing squad after Joko Widodo was elected as President of Indonesia.</p><br/><p>Veloso was supposed to be executed last April 26, 2015, but was granted a temporary reprieve at the last minute after the woman who allegedly recruited her to be a drug courier surrendered to authorities in Manila.</p><br/><p>Her third reprieve came after Attorney General H.M. Prasetyo said the 31-year-old former domestic worker from Nueva Ecija was excluded from the list due to the legal process in the Philippines that’s yet to be completed.</p><br/><p>“Not yet,” said the Indonesian official when asked about Veloso’s fate. “We are still waiting on the legal process in the Philippines, which we have to respect.”</p><br/><p>Prasetyo added 16 more convicts will be executed by firing squad including nationals from Nigeria and Zimbabwe.
