Julie Alipala wrote in her article for <a href="http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/779295/2-lanao-kidnap-victims-beheaded-4-others-released">Inquirer</a> dated April 13, 2016 that Superintendent Rustom Duran, the police director of Lanao del Sur, confirmed in a radio interview that two of the six sawmill workers were decapitated by their captors. The beheaded victims were identified as brothers Salvador and Jayson Hanobas. It is not clear why they were killed. Col. Roseller Murillo, commander of the Army’s 103rd Infantry Brigade, and Major Filemon Tan Jr., spokesperson of the Western Mindanao Command confirmed the release of the four other kidnap victims. They were were Alfredo Cano-os, Gabriel Permites, Adonis Mendez and Julieto Hanobas. The freed victims were released to their employer, Hadja Anisa Gunda, on April 10. The police could not say if ransom was paid in exchange for the freedom of the four workers since it was the employer who negotiated with the abductors. After their release from captivity, the four workers were presented to the provincial police office on April 11 for debriefing before they were reunited with their respective families. “The four were received by Butig chief of police, together with Mayor Ibrahim Macadato. They were then taken to the Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Office for documentation, medical examination and debriefing,” Supt.
