Unfortunately, it’s not the Loch Ness Monster it was looking for. According to an article published by<a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/us-britain-scotland-monster-idUSKCN0XA1VP"> Reuters</a>, the underwater drone found the 9-meter (30-foot) replica used in the 1970 film “The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes”, which sank nearly 50 years ago after its buoyant humps were removed. <a href="http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-36024638">BBC News</a> quoted Loch Ness expert  Adrian Shine as  saying:  “We have found a monster, but not the one many people might have expected.” <div class="easy-ads"><div class="easy-ads-lite easy-ads-lite-bidvertiser-middle"> </div> </div> He said they can confidently say that it was the sunken model used in the 1970 film because of where it was found, the measurements, the shape; noting that it has a neck and no humps. According to Shine, the model was built with a neck and two humps and taken alongside a pier for the filming of portions of the film in 1969. However, The director did not want the humps and had them removed; despite warnings that removing those would affect its buoyancy. “And the inevitable happened. The model sank,” he added. The Norwegian company Kongsberg Maritime which is in charge of the project called Operation Groundtruth isn’t finished yet as they steer the drone further to continue mapping the lake and investigate what lies in its depths. The drone is reportedly capable of mapping vast areas down to 457 meters and is often used to locate downed aircraft.
