Carmi Martin signed another contract with ABS-CBN for her upcoming afternoon series "The Better Half" after leaving for more than two years.
In her interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the February 2 press conference of the teleserye, Carmi admitted that the Kapamilya network failed to provide interesting offers for her in the past.
The 53-year-old actress was then at the GMA-7 sitcom Ismol Family, which was top billed by Carla Abellana and Ryan Agoncillo.
She said that at the time she was handed the offer, there were still a lot of misunderstanding to settle.
"Matagal na raw nila akong gustong kunin pero nasa kabila ako doing sitcom for two years and a half.
Iniiyakan ko na kasi ang dami nilang offer na magaganda pero I cannot naman give up Ismol."
Carmi finally accepted it right after Ismol Family ended in November 2016, saying that the character was too good to refuse. She describe it as "may pagka Leila de Lima."
"Noong biglang tinawagan nila ako for this na sinabi yung role, na mayor nga, main villain tapos may pagka Leila de Lima!
"Tapos ano siya, e, head ng drug syndicate. May connection ako sa mga buhay nila which ikasisira ng dalawang babae.

"Kaya noong sinabi sa akin, sabi ko, I'm just so grateful for being a comedian for two years and a half but yung pagiging artista ko, hungry na rin ako."
The pilot episode will air on Monday, February 13, after It's Showtime. It will serve as a replacement for 'Doble Kara' with Julia Montes.
Carmi will play as the main villain of the story who will ruin the lives of the four main characters: Camille (Shaina Magdayao), Bianca (Denise Laurel), Rafael (JC De Vera), and Marco (Carlo Aquino).
She also admitted that she missed acting these types of roles since she's known for being kontrabida on TV.
Carmi revealed that her scenes will be taped no later than next week. She's seen on various hit series such as the long-running sitcom Abangan Ang Susunod na Kabanata in ABS-CBN, which ran from 1991 to 1997.
Her previous projects with the Kapamilya network were Labs Ko Si Babe (1999), Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin (2005), Da Adventures of Pedro Penduko (2006), Mars Ravelo's Lastikman (2007), Kambal Sa Uma (2009), and Katorse (2009).
Carmi is one of the veteran actors in the industry that became successful on enjoying the best of both networks ABS-CBN and GMA.
