After the 65th Miss Universe was concluded last January 30 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, one of the candidates, Miss Bulgaria, announced that she will give out her blue evening gown to someone who would "really want it and need it."
According to her Facebook post, Miss Bulgaria wanted to give the gown to someone who cannot afford to buy a dress for prom season. She said that she could be reached through private messaging and true enough, someone was able to bag the coveted Sherri Hill dress.
GMA News reported that the lucky teen was Facebook user Issay Gallano's 15-year-old daughter. She posted pictures of her daughter donning the blue gown, with the caption "Thank you so much Miss Bulgaria (with a heart emoji) You have a beautiful heart. We wish you all the best. God bless you and your family"
However, netizens quickly reacted to the photo, particularly user Elaika Erzen Margo. According to her, Issay's daughter seemed like she can clearly afford the evening gown given to her. She posted, "Yayamanin. Kaloka. Nasan ang pagkaporita neto?"

Several users agreed with her statement, including Ecinaj Jhace Villacrusis who said that in the picture of Issay's daugther, she could see that they have a "good house" and that "the appearance of the girl can buy a dress."

Esponillo followed it up by saying:

User Ma Teresa Brillantes Paz added, "Yan ba un walang pambili ng gown... eh mukha namang me kaya.... tsk." Her comment has reached 12 likes as of writing.
However, another user, Reniel Masa, rebutted that even though Miss Bulgaria had pure intentions for giving away the gown, some Filipinos still lambasted the act and with it, the girl who had received the gown.
#sad"
User Marchie A. Manabat agreed with him, saying "What do you expect? Si Pia nga na pinanalo ang bansa may nasasabi sila."
