Science and Technology reached another milestone again as a new implant was designed to help paralyzed patients walk again.

The new brain transplant called “brainspine interface” is set to make a history as the first transplant to enable paralyzed patients to walk. It was tested and proven to have worked on a monkey with a major spinal cord injury. It allowed the paralyzed monkey to walk again after two weeks of training.

The implant works by decoding the signals from the brain then transmitting them to the second implant below the injury which stimulates the spinal cord to restore voluntary movements.

Meanwhile, human trials of this new technology is set to start within the next ten years.
