PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa have released information in regards to the calls received by the 911 yesterday as of 12 am to 7 am. He says 1,356 of the calls made out of the 2,475 were prank calls, 304 have been validated.
“The Chief PNP is warning the 304 prank callers and the would-be callers. The 911 system is currently tracking the prank callers and we will make sure that you will be unmasked and arrested.”
“Refrain prank calls and test calls. You clog up the lines and prevent people with real emergencies to reach us,” he further warned.
The Presidential Decree No. 1727, s. 1980 “declaring as unlawful the malicious dissemination of FALSE INFORMATION or the willful making of any threats concerning bombs, explosives or any similar device or means of destruction and imposing penalties therefor,”
The decree also includes “acts and activities of the radical and lawless elements, and other persons pose a grave and positive danger to public safety and security, and it is necessary that the government immediately adopt and enforce adequate and effective measures to curb these criminal acts and activities, and to deter the radicals and other lawless elements in the country from pursuing their destructive designs and their heinous aims and ends.”
If proven and validated, prank callers will be imprisoned not more than 5 years or be fined not more than 40,000 pesos or both depending on the court’s judgement.
