Up until now, there is an on-going debate on the accomplishments and the negative impact that the late president Ferdinand Marcos did to the country during his term.
Due to that, the presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte said that the remains of the Ferdinand Marcos must now rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani or the heroes’ cemetery located in Taguig.
He is pointing out on the issue that the country which is divided by this controversy must now become at ease.
“I will allow the burial of President Marcos sa Libingan ng mga Bayani, not because he is a hero…but because he was a Filipino soldier. Period. That can be arranged immediately,” he said.
Duterte said that this could ‘erase the hatred‘ of many Filipinos towards the dictator who have ruled the country for 14 years.
