- 10 sachets of Pandan-flavored shabu was seized in a buy-bust operation in Dagupan City
- This is the first time the authorities have encountered flavored narcotics
- A higher grade of shabu was also nabbed in Bulacan, labeled “Green and Blue Meth”
Flavored shabu, or methamphetamine hydrochloride, is now peddled by drug pushers amidst presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign against drugs.
A suspect identified as Barry Sacayacay was arrested for allegedly pushing the pandan-flavored shabu in Dagupan City, Pangasinan.
During the drug buy bust operation, Sacayacay was arrested after accepting a marked P500 payment for a sachet of the pandan-flavored drug. 10 packs of the flavored shabu were seized from the suspect, as per an article published by GMA News. A bottle of green substance was also nabbed which is believed to be what the suspect used to add flavor to the shabu he was allegedly selling.
Mangaldan police chief supt. Benjamin Ariola said, “This is scary because we do not know what harmful side effects this flavored shabu could inflict on drug users.”
This is the first time the authorities have encountered flavored narcotics.
Ariola said investigators are trying to determine the source and the street price of the flavored shabu.
“We are also trying to find out the extent of distribution of the flavored shabu in the province,” he said.
In a separate province, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced the seizure of 2 sachets of colored shabu in Pandi, Bulacan, as per an article published by Inquirer. The shabu, labeled as “Green and Blue Meth”, was supposed to be higher in grade and more expensive than the white crystalline shabu.
