- Roxas is now polling at 22% voters’ preference, a point ahead of Poe’s 21%, which gives him a nominal lead from Poe.
- Presidential frontrunner Rodrigo Duterte maintains an 11-point lead at 33%.
Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Mar Roxas is now gaining on Presidential frontrunner Rodrigo Duterte’s wide lead in the pre-election surveys. Roxas gains momentum as he switches place with Senator Grace Poe who was previously polling at the top 2nd spot.
In the latest Pulse Asia survey, Roxas with 22% is now nominally ahead of Poe’s 21%, Sun Star wrote.
The frontrunner, Duterte, still maintains his clear lead and tops the polls at 33% voters’ preference rating.
“The fight is now down to the two of us, Mayor Duterte and I,” Roxas told the press.
According to Inquirer, Roxas reveled over his upward trajectory compared to his rivals and said “momentum is with us”; referring to running-mate Leni Robredo’s increase in rating as well.
“Our rivals are going down, while we are going up. This is a reflection of the trust the people have continued to give us, and we thank them for it,” he said.
With only days away from the May 9 elections, Roxas urged voters to clearly analyze every candidate’s plan for the country in the next 6 year.
“Pinapakiusap ko po sa inyo: Huwag po nating isugal sa baka sakali. Huwag po nating isugal sa ‘ah, basta.’ Huwag po nating isugal sa ‘pagkatiwalaan mo na lang.’ Eh wala namang plano, wala namang ipinapakitang paraan para isakatuparan itong mga plano para sa ating bansa, kung ano man ‘yon,” he said.
[My plead to you is: Let’s not take chances in maybes. Let’s not gamble in ‘whatever’. Let’s not take risks in ‘just trust’. When there’s no plan… They’re not showing what their plans are and how they will implement these plans for the country, whatever those are]
The latest Pulse Asia survey was conducted in April 26 to 29, with a sample size of 4,000 registered voters as respondents, and a ±1.5 margin of error.
