DJ Durano admitted he is having a hard time accepting the untimely death of director Wenn Deramas.
The blockbuster TV and movie director died of cardiac arrest at the age of 49 on Monday, February 29.
Durano, who had been in relationship with Deramas arrived at the Arlington Memorial Chapels, Araneta Avenue, Quezon City on the first night of the latter’s wake.
He said in an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP): “It was difficult because everybody knows that Direk Wenn was my mentor. I’m lost for words because I only have gratitude.”
He shared his last conversation with Deramas. The diector told him: “I’m happy where I am. I have my own life.”
As for his message to Deramas, Durano said: “I only have kind words for Direk Wenn.
Gusto kong sabihin sa kanya, thank you, thank you, thank you. Hindi lang sa akin, kung hindi sa mga kasama ko, sa mga nabigyan niya ng break.”
[I want to tell him, thank you, thank you, thank you. Not just for me, but for everyone he helped to get a break in the entertainment industry.]
He acknowledged that he wouldn’t be who he is right now if it wasn’t for Deramas.
He disclosed that Deramas has been pushing for him to be included in his upcoming television project. He added that he was able to talk to some people from ABS-CBN who told him that the director asked them to take care of him and give him work.
He recalled the director telling him that people like him should always have a place in the entertainment industry because a lot of people believe in his talent as an actor.
Durano and Deramas ended their ten-year relationship in 2013, but rekindled their friendship a few months after they broke up.
