Unfortunate situations sometimes happen when a person visits a bar or a nightclub. These include being too drunk to go home or falling prey to an assaulter. To avoid being sexually abused or physically assaulted inside these alcohol-driven nightclubs, one must be very vigilant and cautious.
Newsner reported that students from North Carolina State University devised a very simple instrument that could help party-goers stay safe. Four university students found out that a material as simple as a nail polish could prevent sexual or physical harm. They named their project 'Undercover Colors'.
The developers of this invention created a special kind of nail polish that could determine harmful substances such as drugs in one's drink.
Assaulters usually drug their victims to perform their heinous acts. The kind of nail polish these students are developing can help determine if their drinks contain drugs.
One only needs to wear this nail polish on one's nails. If the nail polish's color changes once dipped in an alcoholic drink, the drink may contain suspicious chemicals.
Their invention could cater male party-goers too as they are also trying to come up with a colorless variety of this nail polish so men will be comfortable wearing them.
Newsner also reported that the product is still under development. Nonetheless, it is already a promising concept that could save lives.
