The mysteries of the Bermuda Triangle have led many crazy theories and myths in attempt to explain the disturbing number of sunken ships, plane crashes and disappearances that have occurred over the years. Wild minds propose the existence of time warps or alien bases that captures humans along the borders of the triangle.
However, a great discovery of the scientists claims to have possibly solved the mystery that lies beneath the said mythical triangle.
Scientists from the Arctic University of Norway discovered giants craters at the bottom of Barents Sea.
“Multiple giant craters exist on the sea floor in an area in the west-central Barents Sea … and are probably a cause of enormous blowouts of gas. The crater area is likely to represent one of the largest hotspots for shallow marine methane release in the Arctic,” the researchers explained.
The craters are believed to be 150 feet deep and a half a mile wide, created by the formation of methanes that creates cavities which explodes. Although, the research as to whether this explosion is strong enough to sink ships is still on process.
“There is a version that the Bermuda Triangle is a consequence of gas hydrates reactions. They start to actively decompose with methane ice turning into gas. It happens in an avalanche-like way, like a nuclear reaction, producing huge amounts of gas. That makes the ocean heat up and ships sink in its waters mixed with a huge proportion of gas,” Igor Yelstov tries to explain on 2015.
