Even the firmest police general knows how to laugh.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Dir. Gen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa finally had the chance to meet the impersonator of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Sunday during the StarBuzz segment of Sunday PinaSaya, which was aired on GMA-7.
In an article published by GMA News Online, it was disclosed that the chief of the country’s 160,000-strong police force guested in the show where comedian Jose Manalo portrayed a spoof of the president through his character named “Rodney Juterte”.
During the segment, AiAi delas Alas tested how much Dela Rosa and Juterte knowseach other by asking them personal questions such as the things the general usually does during his free time, to which the police chief answered, “Manood ng sine [watch movies at the cinema] with my family.”
Delas Alas also asked about the most embarrassing moment the four-star officer ever experienced, where the latter shared about how he and the president were attacked by a stray dog while practicing at a firing range.
Last May, the president himself said that he enjoys how Manalo impersonates him.
“Jose, I enjoyed the show. Ilayo mo lang nang konti (‘yung kamay mo). [Just move your hand a little farther.] Because the reason why I am placing my hand over my right cheek is that I am pressing a nerve there below the ear. Nadisgrasya ako sa motor. [I had an accident on a motorcycle.] To lessen the pain, dinidiin ko ‘yan [I press it],” Duterte told the comedian.
In response, Manalo said that he was so delighted when he learned that the new chief executive appreciated his performance.
He even jokingly told Duterte, “Ayoko pong masira ‘yung karakter ninyo. Tinatakpan ko po (‘yung pisngi ko), kasi mas makinis po ‘yung mukha n’yo kaysa sa akin. [I do not want to mess up with your character. I cover my cheeks because your face is smoother than mine.]”
