An Irishman was stabbed dead by his Filipina girlfriend’s ex-partner inside a restaurant in Sydney last week. The woman was also seriously wounded in the attack.
According to Sydney Morning Herald, Irishman Keith Collins, 53, and Filipina Jovy Pilapil, 38, were on their first date and were dining inside a busy Korean restaurant in Sydney when they were attacked by Alexander Villaluna, the 44-year-old ex-husband of Pilapil with whom she has three children.
Pilapil reportedly separated from Villaluna in November last year and had sought an apprehended violence order (AVO) against her former husband. She had since posted on social media account about receiving a bunch of flowers from her ‘secret admirer’.
She met Collins on a dating website and the two have agreed to meet for their very first date at the Kangam BBQ restaurant in Westfield Hornsby on Wednesday night, March 30.
Collins, who is from Ireland but lives in Terrigal on the Central Coast, is also a single parent, and both he Pilapil are hopeful at giving love another chance.
However, the date turned into a tragedy after Villaluna walked into the restaurant, took a 20-centimeter knife from the kitchen and stabbed his ex-wife in the chest before the horrified diners. She managed to crawl upstairs where she later collapsed.
The jilted husband then turned on Collins and stabbed him in the neck; cutting his throat. The victim died on the scene and the suspect casually walked out of the restaurant.
He walked back in 15 minutes later and surrendered to the responding police.
The suspect is facing murder for Collin’s death and attempted murder for the attack on his ex-wife.
Meanwhile, the injured woman is now recovering at Royal North Shore Hospital.
