Following the accusations and badmouth about some absentee congressmen endured last year, Toby Tiangco, Navotas Representative, filed a bill of “No Work, No Pay“.
In an example showed by ABS-CBN, it says, “If there is 5 sessions last May, and you attend only once, you would lose about Php 93,668, leaving you with a balance of Php23,417. This is based on a congressman salary of Php 117,086.”
Absentee Congressmen have been already a concern since 2014 with the like of Manny Pacquiao who only attended 4 session days as the Saranggani Representative.
Included in the House Bill 413 filed by Tiangco is “the issuance and use of the number “8” Protocol License plates on vehicles of members of house of representatives and for other purposes”. Tiangco stated that he does not see any use of it for congressmen.
Although his proposals are not popular and contrary to many. But he said that there will be no problem if everyone will subscribe to the idea of “Change is Coming”
