Two of the five casualties of Close Up’s ‘Forever Summer’ concert, held at SM Mall of Asia grounds in Pasay City last May 21, were reported to have died drug-related deaths.
Bianca Fontejon, an 18-year-old student of De La Salle University, collapsed while partying at the concert and was rushed to the Manila Doctors Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Bianca was one of the two victims examined by the NBI Medico Legal division who had traces of synthetic drugs, namely MDMA Methylyne Homolog and Synthetic Cathinone, in their system.
Bianca’s family appeared before the National Bureau of Investigation-Death Investigation Division (NBI-DID) chief lawyer Daniel Lalusis on June 5 to ensure that Bianca’s death would not be in vain, as per an article published by Manila Bulletin.
“Everyone who is accountable should be held liable. We don’t want others, especially children, to suffer the same faith as Bianca,” Bianca’s mother, Bibiane Fontejon said.
The Fontejons wanted to know how their daughter obtained these drugs, when Bianca, as her parents claim, was not even a drug user.
“We know her so well,” said Bianca’s father Edison Fontejon, as they deny her suspected drug use at the concert.
Ariel Radovan, lawyer of the Fontejons, said in an interview with radio DZMM as per an article published by ABS CBN News: “Although they said they prepared a mobile clinic, there were no warm bodies. If there really were bouncers, they would have helped carrying the kid. They did it on their own, it was 2 of Bianca’s friends that carried her to the mobile clinic.”
Radovan said the organizers have complete liability over the incident.
“There is no other person to give light to what happened aside from the organizers. They said they followed strict requirements but they are yet to explain how these deadly drugs got to the hands of the victims,” he said.
The lawyer said they may file the cases as soon as NBI finishes its investigation.
The Fontejons said they want justice for Bianca as she was also a victim, and at the same time, inform the public about the danger of party drugs in such events.
