“For richer or for poorer, in sickness or in health.. til death do us part” — This is the most integral part of a wedding vow, but not every couple could stick to such vows.
While there are some who fail to stand by this promise, there are those who remain true to their commitment like this young couple whose love story has touched many hearts after a video of the wife feeding her cancer-stricken husband through a tube while singing a worship song to him went viral on social media.
Their story exemplified the realization of the wedding vow: in sickness and in health.. til death do us part.
When Junbert Robiso was diagnosed with brain cancer, it was his wife Rochelle who took over as the father of the family. She tried to provide for Junbert and their two kids’ needs while taking care of her sick husband at the same time. Junbert’s body was critically deteriorating everyday and he can only take liquid food through NGT (nasogastric tube) feeding. Only 29, the dreams that he had for his family all crashed.
One can only imagine the sacrifices Rochelle has to go through to make sure that her husband is well taken cared of. This is despite the fact that he can succumb to the disease anytime. But because of her love for Junbert, with whom she has promised to share her entire life with, for richer or poorer, in sickness or in health, she has dauntlessly stayed by his side; giving him the strength he needed to survive this plight.
In an interview with GMA News, she said:
“Ibibigay ko ang buhay ko sa kaniya. Ganyan ko siya kamahal. Kahit anong sakripisyo basta para sa kaniya [I will give my life to him. That’s how I love him. I can sacrifice anything for my husband].“
Their story will be featured very soon in GMA’s “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho”.
