During her photoshoot for Vogue Brazil, Victoria’s Secret angel Candice Swanepeol was caught breastfeeding her 5-month-old son. The photo was taken while she was on break from the shoot.
Back in December 2016, the South African model wrote on her Instagram account that she was shamed for breastfeeding in public but not for posing topless in photoshoots. She said she was pressured to cover up while feeding her son, Anacã, in public.
She wrote: “Many women today are shamed for breastfeeding in public, or even kicked out of public places for feeding their children. I have been made to feel the need to cover up and somewhat shy to feed my baby in public places but strangely feel nothing for the topless editorials I’ve done in the name of art..?” Candice said on her post.
Anacã is the first born of the famous model and her fiancé Hermann Nicoli in October. Since then, Candice has been posting snaps of her with her baby. She thought it was unfair to shame women for breastfeeding in public.
"The world has been desensitized to the sexualization of the breast and to violence on tv…why should it be different when it comes to breastfeeding? Breastfeeding is not sexual it’s natural- Those who feel it is wrong to feed your child in public need to get educated on the benefits breastfeeding has on mother and child and intern on society as a whole. 💪🏼💙 👫👭 #mothernature,”
The South African model earned respect from Victoria’s Secret fans and from netizens because of the post. And why wouldn't it? More power to you and mothers like you, Candice?
