For people who live paycheck to paycheck, unplanned expenses are among their biggest problems. For families who have to bear with the little amount they get during paydays, they already know where every penny goes- and that's exactly what happened with this case.
Rhode, a mother of two, went over to a relative's house just to pick something up. However, due to a party in the building, she was left with no choice but to park in the only spot available-- the sidewalk.
Just as she was about to leave the building, to Rhode's sheer terror, cops were there, probably to end the party. Even worse, she already received $ 100 parking fine.
However, with the many expenses she already had to bear in mind, she didn't have money to pay for the fine. Because of this, Rhode needed to go to the court and receive bigger penalties.
But during the trial, things went differently than expected.
While Rhode was testifying to the judge, the latter unexpectedly called her 6-year-old daughter, Janice, from the bench. When the judge asked Janice how old she was, no one knew what he had in mind. The judge then on started explaining to the young girl what her mother done, as well as the options for penalties they had.
First, make the mother pay the maximum penalty $ 300.
Second, dismiss the penalty and charge the mother for the original $ 100 penalty.
Third, cut the original fine in half and only charge her for $ 50.
Fourth, dismiss the fine and do not charge her for anything.
To the utter shock of Janice, her mother, and the people in the court, the judge then asked her to make the decision. The nervous young girl was caught off guard by the decision and was left speechless at first.
But then, the judge asked her if she had breakfast, learning that she hadn't eat anything, he makes a decision.
"Suppose I make a deal with your mom. If she buys you breakfast when you leave, I'll dismiss it. Is that a good deal?"
