In celebration of the National Engineers Week in the US, Business Insider named 43 of the most powerful women engineers in the industry - one of them is a Filipina!
Anne Aaron, who works at Netflix ranked no. 32 among female developers, designers, engineering directors, bio scientists, nuclear scientists, and rocket scientists.
As the director of Video Algorithms at Netflix, it is Aaron's job to make sure all 86 million subscribers of the video streaming platform gets the best possible video quality wherever they are.
A true blue Atenista, Aaron graduated Valedictorian and Magna Cum Laude from Ateneo de Manila University. She has a Bachelor of Science in Physics (1998) and Computer Engineering (1999).
She then got her master's degree and PH.D. in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University.
Aaron also held the Senior Software Engineer for Video Codecs position at Cisco Systems.
According to the article, she started with Netflix on 2011 as a senior engineer and worked her way to the top from there.
The list was created in order highlight women's achievements in the male-dominated world of technology.
BI's Julie Bort, author of the article wrote, "the tech industry is doing a well-documented terrible job in attracting women into engineering. And once they enter this male-dominated world, some women are subject to some appalling sexism and sexual harassment."
Congratulations are in order! And thanks to this Pinay who not only did our country proud, but also proved that it's not just "a man's world".
