For most Filipinos, completing all levels of education is a privilege that only a few are fortunate enough to achieve.
We all have heard of stories of people doing whatever it takes just to be able to earn a college degree.
In a third world country like the Philippines, most citizens perceive education as the gateway to get out of poverty.
But poverty is not the only reason why some Filipinos cannot complete their education. For a certain number of people, having to go through serious illness can be quite a big hurdle in the road towards academic achievement. However, from time to time, we get glimpses of people who choose not to see their illness as a reason not to achieve their dreams.
Take this young woman from Cagayan de Oro City for example.
Recently, a woman who is currently receiving treatment for "stage 4 acute mylogenous leukemia" took part in a special graduation ceremony planned by her classmates and professors from the Rizal Technological University in Mandaluyong.
According to ABS-CBN NEWS, 20-year-old Maria Julpha Villa was given the chance to attend a special graduation ceremony at a hospital in Cagayan de Oro City. Her parents, doctors, and attendants arranged the small ceremony.
Her classmates said that Julpha worked very hard to get her degree in Physical Education from RTU. She was university scholar for four years thanks to her impressive skills in Arnis, a Filipino Martial Art.
Reports say the fresh grad is very hopeful about recovering soon so she could pursue her dream of becoming an instructor in the future.

We hope that this young woman's story serves as an inspiration to many.
