Kidney stones are so common that it forms in one of every 20 people.
Also known as renal calculi, kidney stones happen when there's an abundance of crystal-forming substances in a person's diet like calcium, oxalate and uric acid.
Once it has taken shape, these small crystals latch on to the linings of the urinary tract. This causes mild discomfort to extreme pain while urinating depending on its size.
While the body can expel the really small ones regularly, bigger crystals need to be shrunk before they can be flushed out.
Parsley and coriander (chinese parsley) helps dissolve kidney stones because they are rich in vitamin B6, C, magnesium and potassium.
As natural diuretics, parsley and coriander also help the body produce urine regularly.
Here's how to prepare the tea:
1. For every cup of boiling water, add to tablespoons of parsley or coriander.
2. Let it simmer for about 5-10 minutes.
3. Remove the tea from flame and let it cool down.
4. Add a few drops of lemon juice and one tablespoon of honey.
5. Drink the tea two times a day.
Don't forget to drink lots of water throughout the day to help the body in producing urine and to avoid dehydration.
This infusion can also be combined with other succulent fruits such as watermelon for better results.
However, pregnant women should avoid drinking this tea as it may cause hormonal imbalance and induces menstrual flow.
Eating too much parsley can also cause anemia and liver problems.
Patients with hyperkalemia should also limit their intake of coriander because it contains high levels of potassium.
