Following the recent visit of Russian warships in the country, an Indian Coast Guard ship enters the Manila port.
The Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Samarth received a warm welcome from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) as they pay the Philippines a goodwill visit.
"Indian Coast Guard Ship Samarth entered Manila port today and was warmly received by the Philippine Coast Guard," said the Indian Embassy in Manila.
The embassy also added in their statement that the ship will be open to public viewing tomorrow at January 8 from 10 am to 4 pm.
"The ship is open to visitors tomorrow, Sunday, 8 January from 1000 to 1600 hrs and you are cordially invited."
The ICGS vessel’s name, Samarth, stands for "capable" and is the newest ship among India’s coast guard vessels. Additionally, it is the first offshore patrol ship of their 105 meter patrol vessels.
The ship, designed by M/s Goa Shipyard Limited, is equipped with modernized navigation and communication devices, sensors, and machinery.
It also boasts its helicopter carrying capacity as well as the ability to operate up to five high speed boats.
