Christmas carols are a traditional part of Filipino holiday culture. 8-year-old Rufino Tapdasan, on the other hand, uses it as a means to care for his 9-month-old baby sister.
The young boy from Sitio Lower Magdoc in Naga was captured on video singing carols at the Naga Baywalk in Cebu. The video circulated online and quickly went viral.
Young Rufino has been doing this in order to support his baby sister, who lives with him and their grandmother.
Unfortunately, his father is currently in prison and his mother has long abandoned them.
More than being selfless, he is also diligent and passionate about education. Despite the hardships he faces, he walks for 40 minutes a day just to get to his school. He hopes to finish school one day and become a police officer.
According to his teachers, Rufino is an smart boy who is good at math.
