Huang Deming, a pig farmer in China believes that pigs need to be have a fitness routine in order to end up as better tasting pork meat.
In line with that, the pig farmer has set up a 10-foot platform at a pond in Ningxiang County, wherein his pigs could take a plunge as they dive from the wooden platform. He also allows them to swim for a certain amount of time.
Huang claims that the exercise has helped his pigs’ immune systems which led to boosted appetite.
Due to the pig’s exercise, the fat deposits do not easily build up making room for lean layers, making the pork taste complex.
“A pig that eats lots of fresh greens and gets plenty of exercise will have more muscles and less fat than a pig standing in a pig sty eating high carbohydrate grains all day,” explains a Countryside magazine which featured the odd practice of Huang.
In addition, the healthier pigs with strong immune systems no longer takes antibiotics and other chemical concotions.
If Huang’s fitness practice is truly the reason behind his pork’s superior quality, many should consider following or learning his fitness routine for the pigs.
