Self-proclaimed activist and social change advocate Sass Sasot questions a law passed under the Aquino administration which allegedly had evident non-existent contents and no online presence.
R.A. No. 10895 is “An Act granting the Avocado Broadband Telecoms, Inc. a franchise to construct, install, establish, operate and maintain Telecommunications System throughout the Philippines” according to the law.
Sasot questioned the corporation’s existence, its owner and why it was absent in the Department of Trade and Industries (DTI) and (SEC) database.
She also questioned how a supposed ‘internet-business’ had no online presence.
Sasot called out the attention of Senator Bam Aquino on her Facebook post seeking for answers.
“PAGING SENATOR BAM AQUINOPaki-explain po sa amin kung paanong naging kapanipaniwalang kayang mag-Construct, Install, Establish, Operate and Maintain Telecommunications Systems ang isang company na katulad ng “Avocado Broadband Telecoms, Inc.” eh website nga wala sila???Ano na?” she posted.
“ANG NAWAWALANG AVOCADODuring Aquino’s time, a law was passed “Granting the Avocado Broadband Telecoms, Inc. a Franchise to Construct, Install, Establish, Operate and Maintain Telecommunications Systems Throughout the Philippines.”1.
