The show business industry has long faced the problem of narcotics, even the Philippine Actors Guild is not denying this. The president of ‘Kapisanan ng mga Artista sa Pelikulang Pilipino at Telebisyon‘ Rez Cortez admitted that over the time, many measures had been taken to solve the problem with drugs.
With the new administration all set to fix the issue and completely eradicate the drug problem allegedly ravaging the nation, the industry is being shaken. Many actors and actresses caught up in both drug trade and drug use are on the verge of being publicly known, which poses a grave threat to the industry and its reputation.
According to reports, 54 members of the guild are part of the list using different types of drugs namely cocaine, methamphetamine (shabu) and party drugs (ecstasy, etc.) However, the Philippine National Police (PNP) opted not to disclose the names.
Oscar Albayalde.
The actors’ guild reacted on the issue of publicizing the celebrity drug list, saying people should stop putting the industry in hot water thinking it is flooded with celebrities addicted to narcotics just because of their job and lifestyle. Cortez also said these people are merely victims and are in dire need of help, too.
However, these statements from Cortez have drawn many different reactions from both the public and other known celebrities, among them is infamous blogger and known supporter of the drug war Mocha Uson.
Uson wasn’t able to hold herself back as she voiced out her sentiments against the guild and Cortez in particular.
She added.
