Recently, President Rodrigo Duterte made it to the International Headlines after allegedly badmouthing US President Barrack Obama. This is when a journalist asked him as to what will be his reaction when Obama would ask him about the killings. Duterte simply answered that he is not answerable to anyone but to the Filipino people alone. Expletives followed after.
One netizen went viral after suggesting that it was the International media who mistranslated the context of Duterte's answer. Many supporters came to defend the President using this premise. This might also be the inspiration behind another online protest started by a Duterte supporter in social media urging everyone to make a stand for the country and call out the International Media. The netizen named Sass Rogando Sasot posted a picture of her holding a text saying: "Dear International Media: STOP destabilising the Philippines." She posted this with the caption:
"NB: Ang destabiliSing po ay BRITISH English. Ang destabiliZing po ay AMERICAN English. Masasapak ko na kayo kapag may magcomment pa tungkol sa spelling ng putanginang destabilising na iyan.
