NEW DELHI, India – A newlywed man was forced to go on honeymoon with a picture of his wife after she lost her passport few days before their scheduled honeymoon trip.
Indian photographer Faizan Patel from New Delhi had to take a solo trip to Greece and Italy after his wife Sana lost her passport.
Deciding to use his wits, Faizal tweets a photo of himself traveling alone with his wife’s photo on next empty seat to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
“This is how I am travelling with my wife as of now,” said Faizal on his tweet and posted his unique picture.
In a story covered by Keyan Milanian for Mirror Co UK, it was mentioned that the couple got married in December and had their “mini-moon” in India, however, the trip to Italy was supposed to be their “proper” honeymoon.
Unfortunately, Sana misplaced her passport and couldn’t find it till the date of travel. The couple was told they could not get a refund and so the newlyweds decided Faizan should go without Sana.
Upon receiving a series of tweets from Faizan, India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted back saying “Ask your wife to contact me. I will ensure that she is with you on the next seat.”
The minister is known to help citizens through social media and has already helped many people before especially through Twitter.
Sushma directed officials to help the couple get duplicate visa within two days but Sana couldn’t join Faizal while going to trip as her visa to Italy took some time to process.
In recent tweets by Faizal, he is finally seen in pictures with Sana as his trip is coming to end.
Faizal posted a photo conveying thanks to the minister for her prompt help, with a caption saying “Look who is here!” with tags #HoneymoonWithHoney and #SanaIsHere.
The Indian minister’s help on getting a young man spend his honeymoon with his beloved wife has surely won many hearts.
