- Pacquiao expects Bradley will be more aggressive
- He said he will do his best against the former WBO welterweight champion
- He is ready even if Bradley will use the same strategy as Mayweather
Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao said he is expecting an aggressive Timothy Bradley on April 9, but emphasized that he is ready even if his American opponent will use the same strategy that the retired pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. used against him when they faced each other in May last year.
He shrugged off reports that Bradley will incorporate the tactical elements used by Juan Manual Marquez when he delivered the devastating knockout blow against Pacquiao back in 2012.
Boxing Scene quoted him as saying: “I know that Floyd Mayweather used the same sparring strategy. I know that they’re going to use that strategy. But I learned a lot from that fight. So maybe they should think about another strategy.”
In a previous interview, Pacquiao said if the former WBO welterweight champion thinks he can do what Mayweather did to him in their fight last year, that’s not going to happen.
According to an article written by Lance Pugmire for Los Angeles Times, Pacquiao said on Monday, March 14, after closing his first day of training camp at the Wild Card Boxing Club: “No. They box different — way, way different … the skill, he’s slower. The speed … we know. I’m just being honest. I can throw a lot of punches on him.”
The “Pambansang Kamao” assured the fans that they can expect a lot of action on his third face-off against Bradley at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
“Fans can expect more action. Not because it is my last fight. Not just because I trained hard but I am focused… He has a new coach that should make him more offensive,” he said.
He refused to give a prediction on the possible outcome of the fight but emphasized that he’s going to do his best.
