- Aminah Hart, 46, married Scott Anderson, a cattle farmer whom she met after the birth of their baby Leila
- Anderson was chosen by Hart out of the five possible sperm donor candidates
- The pair were engaged for about two years ago and got married in Sorrento
MELBOURNE, Australia – A woman who had a daughter using in-vitro fertilization decided to track down her sperm donor and surprisingly fell in love with the man and married him last December.
Belinda Grant Gerry mentioned in her article for the Mail Online published on March 24 that 46-year-old London-born Aminah Hart married Scott Anderson; a cattle farmer whom she met after the birth of their baby Leila.
Hart and Anderson made global headlines two years ago when their relationship was featured on an Australian television show. The mother tracked down her sperm donor in the hope of introducing their daughter, but things went further.
“What happened to Scott and I is such a random thing,” Hart said.
Although happy how things turned out, the new bride said she “wouldn’t ever advocate it [IVF] as a dating service”.
“He was basically just a brief profile on a piece of paper. He could have been anyone. The fact that we met and we liked each other and we fell in love and all of those things are still so farfetched to me,” she added.
An article by BBC News published on March 24 said that Hart chose Anderson out of the five possible sperm donor candidates; only knowing that he was “happy and healthy”, had four children and was a football-playing farmer.
Hart, a former advertising executive, said Anderson had ticked a box agreeing that he can be contacted before the kid turns eighteen.
The pair were engaged for about two years and got married in Sorrento; a popular tourist town near Melbourne last Wednesday.
“We managed to keep it quite a private day and it was just beautiful,” Hart said.
“There was a lot of love in the room for us. People were really happy to see two people so happy. Sometimes we do look at each other and go, ‘you and I met through [Leila] and we’re married now’. It’s kind of bizarre,” she added.
