PORTLAND, Oregon – A young girl is hailed as a hero after saving her own mother from drowning.
Fares Sabawi mentioned in his article for Caller Times published on March 23 that the 34-year-old mother, identified as Tracey Anderwald, was swimming in the family pool when she fell unconscious after suffering a seizure.
Allison, 5 years old, saw her mother floating face down in their pool and then rushed in and jumped to save her mother from danger.
Allison, who appears slim and fragile, proved she is more beyond her looks as she made repeated attempts to drag her mother into safety.
She started saving Tracey by turning her mother over while in the middle of the pool, then she slowly pulled her up the pool’s steps, lifting Tracey’s head from the water.
After pulling her mother to safety, young Allison then runs to get help from her sisters and aunt. A CCTV from the family’s home was able to capture the entire heroic act of the youngster.
“It’s amazing that she even knew what to do,” said Tracey, who was released from the hospital after a few days.
An article by Sara Oldfield for The Sun published on March 23 said that Tedra Hunt, Tracey’s sister, was walking over to the house at the same time when she heard Allison screaming for help.
Tedra immediately called the emergency services, who luckily arrived quickly to give first-aid.
Tedra said Allison learned to swim when she was two-and-a-half years old. The aunt added that the young kid was very calm throughout and was trying to explain what had happened.
“She was really heavy. I could only get the top part of her out and then her other daughters ran over and helped me get her out. And so, Alison was able to do that on her own… It’s a miracle,” Tedra said.
Doctors who examined Tracey didn’t know what caused the seizure but claimed that the mother will definitely suffer irreversible brain damage and could have died if she stayed one more minute underwater.
