- Kathryn Bernardo celebrates her 20th birthday
- She was a child star back in the early 2000s
- Since then, she has played major roles on both television and movies
It seems time flies so fast. Former child actress Kathryn Bernardo has just celebrated her 20th birthday on Saturday, March 26.
Because her birthday fell on a Black Saturday, the Kapamilya teen star said she “she wants a simple and private birthday celebration attended by people close to her, including her onscreen partner, Daniel Padilla,” a feature story by ABS-CBN wrote.
Kathryn is one of ABS-CBN’s brightest stars. She first broke into the main spotlight when she played “Maya” in the child-oriented fantasy-action series “Super Inggo.” After that, she also landed roles in different ABS-CBN shows such as “Krystala” and “Vietnam Rose”
The young actress again rose to popularity when she played “Mara” in the re-make of the television drama “Mara Clara” alongside Julia Montes. The heavy drama was first played by Judy Ann Santos (Mara) and Gladys Reyes (Clara) in 1992.
After that, Kathryn and Julia had been seen in a variety of teen-oriented shows in the Kapamilya network.
In 2012, she also had another breakthrough in the “Princess and I,” playing the role of “Mikay,” who was the long-lost Princess of Bhutan. Daniel Padilla and Enrique Gil played as her leading men in the show, which was the named as the “biggest Philippine show shot in Bhutan.”
Right after the success of “Princess and I” were two other successful series “Got to Believe” and “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” both with Daniel. “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” was a re-make of the long-running hit drama series of Kristine Hermosa and Jericho Rosales back in the early 2000s.
Kathryn, alongside Daniel, has also played in a chain of local films – both horror and romantic comedy. Some of the most popular rom-com they did together were: “24/7 in Love”, “She’s Dating the Gangster”, “Crazy Beautiful You” and “Must Be Love.”
Among the horror films they did were “Shake, Rattle & Roll 13” and “Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay”.
Aside from her on screen success, Kathryn was also lauded by print magazine FHM twice. She was part of FHM UK’s “Top 10 Hottest Nations in the World” and FHM Philippines’ “100 Sexiest Woman 2015”.
