The Eiffel Tower was closed to visit Wednesday because of strong winds that reaches 140 km/h that hit the French capital, according to the company that operates the most famous landmark in Paris.
The western, the northern part of France, as well as the Paris region were hit Wednesday morning by storm Eleanor, which caused multiple power interruptions and disruptions in air transport.
The National Weather agency have extended its top-level Orange alert for winds of up to 200 km/h (124 mph) and high waves to 51 departments as the storm continues; also advising people to limit travel and look out for falling objects.
Several ski resorts were closed due to the risks posed by the storms; with warnings of a very high danger of avalanches.
The area around Paris and north-eastern Picardie and Champagne-Ardenne are also among those affected.
