There are lots of convenience stores in the Philippines. We usually go to these kinds of stores because they offer anything we would need on a whim. Unfortunately, not all of them have good hygienic practices. One netizen shared how she bought a siopao from a known convenience store, only to discover that it has a specimen inside.
According to her post, she was not satisfied with how they dealt with the problem. She said that she had the specimen submitted to the Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD). However, she was surprised to find out that the staff of the known convenience store went to her cousin’s house and retrieve the specimen without her consent.
She then accused them of covering up the incident since they retrieved the only evidence she had of the incident. She also mentioned that they have connections inside the laboratory where the supposed examination would take place since they have “affiliations.” The netizen emphasized that she wanted BFAD to conduct the examination, not those affiliated with the particular convenience store.

“Ni hnd ko nga pnabalik ang pera kong pnambili ko jan..siningil ko b kayo???!! Ang gusto ko lng aminin nyo n my something wrong s product manufacturing nyo at dpat iaddress kagad dahil ngkalat ang branches nyo s buong pilipinas!!!”
The netizen said that even though the branch manager submitted a written report (out of her request) to be forwarded to the convenience store’s area manager, she did not like what was written on it. Moreover, according to her, they also stated that no “physical evidence” was found regarding her complaint.

She added that she initially refused to share her experience but realized that lots of people go to such convenience stores to buy food, among others.
