The great Dr. Jose Rizal once said “The youth is the hope of the Fatherland.” Unfortunately, most of these young people are not able to go to school because their parents do not have the money to send them to school. As a result, they end up in the streets working at an early age or being taken advantaged of by criminal elements.
Fortunately, there are people like Dara Mae Tuazon who go out of their way to give these street children hope. Dara Mae is a common fixture in the streets of Gastambide in Manila teaching street children how to read and write. These streets are known for being noisy and full of smoke but Dara does not mind of all these distractions.
It is not every day that you can see people like Dara Mae who have the passion and the heart for street children. UM Freedom Wall posted this picture of Dara Mae while teaching a street kid. The picture immediately went viral. It was posted yesterday and got 1,570 shares and 116 comments.
Dara Mae studied at the University of the East and Holy Angel University. She is an aspiring pre-school teacher and rightfully so she is building up for a career in teaching with the street children of Gastambide. She currently has over 3,600 followers.
