11-year-old Tharathep Wanacharoenlap from Thailand was the subject of disturbing photos that recently circulated online and went viral.
The boy impaled his neck on an eight-inch metal spike after attempting to climb over a gate to see his friend. During his dangerous stunt, the boy slipped at the top of the gate. The gate had become slippery due to recent rain, reports stated.
Fortunately, the rusty metal spike missed his artery.
According to an eyewitness named Natarit Noonpradate:
"He climbs over the gate every day to visit his friend. His mum told me his friend is too lazy to come and open it for him as it's about 800 metres from the home."
"This time it was wet and slippy because there had just been a rain storm. He reached the top and slipped."
"After the mistake he put his arms around the top and held himself for ten minutes. When a neighbor saw him, they same and supported to take off the weight."
Natarit also pointed out, "The gate is about 3 metres high. It's a miracle he survived."
Thankfully, rescuers were able to free him. The metal spike was still in his neck when the ambulance from Chachoengsao arrived.
"When he was in the ambulance, the nurse asked him if he was okay and he gave them a thumbs up," Natarit narrated.
The boy is now recovering from the incident and is expected to be out of the hospital within a few days.
The incident should serve as a reminder for kids to avoid doing such dangerous stunts and for parents to be more attentive to their children.
