On Sunday, March 19, 2017, a graduate of the University of the Philippines-Los Baños (UPLB) was reported missing by his family. He reportedly went missing right as he was about to head off to work. It was supposed to be his first day on the job.
ABS-CBN News reported that 23-year-old Michael Kenneth Cruz was last seen by his family and girlfriend on the early morning of March 16, Thursday.
Cruz is a licensed chemical engineer who graduated magna cum laude from UPLB in 2015. He is the youngest in his family.
Dolores Cruz, his mother, stated that she did not know of any reason as to why her son would go missing.
According to her, "Wala po siyang kaaway, napakabait na bata po ni Michael. Wala po akong idea kung bakit siya nawala.”
His girlfriend, Andrea Baule, said that he left his house in Pasig City early in the morning to report to his office in Balayan, Batangas. He works for a food and beverages company.
She recalls receiving two text messages from him that day - with one that informed her of his location. Baule revealed that she tried to call him several times throughout the day but was unable to make contact.
Baule and his family filed a missing persons report when the company he was supposed to report to called them and said that he did not show up.
In a recent development, it was reported that Cruz has already returned home on March 22, Wednesday afternoon. His mother said that he came back home safely but she chose not to divulge any further details as to why he went missing.
She also expressed her gratitude to the public for sharing their post on social media sites.
She said, "Maraming salamat po sa mga tumulong at nakauwi na po nang maayos ang anak ko.”
